12" x 12" Acrylic on Canvas, Oak frame.
The first in a series of works based on surfboard fins. I have an everlasting fascination with all the different types of fins that we use on surfboards. They usually aren't the first thing notice on a board, but they are such a vital part of surfing. Not only are they the rudder of the ship, so to speak, they have so much aesthetic value in their own right.
This painting is based on a fin that I bought for the first longboard I ever shaped back when I was in high school. I have hung on to that board and the fin and they both still inspire me.
