A few years back there were stories in the news about mass bleaching events of the Great Barrier Reef that were happening as a result of climate change. In light of this tragedy, which has continued in the years since, I was inspired to paint this abstract ocean painting as a way to both honor the reef itself and all of the life that it supports, and also to bring awareness to the what is happening to our oceans. It is meant to be both an inspiration of the beauty of the reef and a reminder that we need to care for the sea.
