Redwood Alaia - Signature

$500.00

I have long been fascinated with the origins of surfing and surf craft. Having shaped boards from foam in the past, I thought it was time to try and create a replica of the ancient Hawaiian "Alaia" .

The Alaia was the board of the common people in Polynesian culture. It is very thin and extremely versatile. Riding an Alaia is a sure way to invigorate your relationship to surfing. It is a whole new learning experience with an extremely rewarding wave sliding experience. On top of that they are beautiful works of art that are an integral part of surf history.

This Alaia, made of redwood, is just shy of seven feet long, 17" wide, and 7/8" thick. Although it is a simple craft, it is highly refined with a deep concave and tapered rails.
