Part of the "Curious Creatures" series. The Egret is such a refined bird, graceful and symbolic of life, and yet holds a grenade in its beak. The bird doesn't know that what it's holding is incredibly dangerous. While painting this piece I was contemplating the idea of holding on to things in life that we don't realize are potentially explosive.
Printed with archival ink and cotton rag paper to last a lifetime. 1" border, size reflects paper size.
