Bird of Paradise

Part of the Small Wonders collection, Bird of Paradise brings together the unmistakable shape of a Bird of Paradise flower with a world of intricate, hand-drawn patterns. Vibrant orange and purple petals emerge from a swirling field of fine black lines, while small blue drops and green leaves add unexpected moments of color and movement.

The contrast between the bold, expressive forms and the obsessive detail of the surrounding linework is central to my process. I’m interested in creating small worlds where nature feels both recognizable and slightly surreal—inviting the viewer to look closer and discover something new each time.

Painted on wood and finished with hand-drawn ink details, Bird of Paradise is a celebration of tropical beauty, pattern, and the strange abundance of the natural world.
