Frequent Flyer captures the quiet confidence of the California brown pelican, a bird perfectly adapted to a life shaped by the coast. Suspended in flight against a vivid sky, it glides across a network of hand-drawn ink patterns inspired by the natural rhythms and connections found beneath the ocean’s surface. The intricate linework contrasts with the smooth, open color fields, inviting the eye to wander while emphasizing the pelican’s graceful movement.

Painted on a maple wood panel, the natural grain remains visible around the composition, adding warmth and grounding the piece in the organic materials that inspire much of my work. The combination of acrylic paint and meticulous ink drawing reflects my ongoing exploration of the balance between bold simplicity and intricate detail.
