One my most recent projects that I am so excited about is my largest painting yet. I had the incredible opportunity to paint a large scale piece for the entrance of a new hotel and restaurant in Point Loma, CA called the Monsaraz and Westerly Public House.

The painting is a mosaic of 13 thick gallery-wrapped canvases that stretch out over 16 feet long. As usual with this type of work, I painted flat on the floor, and this painting ran the entire length of the studio! It was so much fun to work on such a large scale and I am so thrilled with how well this type of painting feels as a large work. When standing in front of it you get the feeling of being immersed in the ocean!

Here is a little write-up I did for the hotel about the piece…

Rising Swell

Inspired by the never-ending beauty of ocean that surrounds Point Loma. Waves like this have crashed on these shores throughout time. From native Kumeeyay peoples, to Portuguese explorers, to modern Californians, this coast and this sea have provided life. More than anything this painting is meant to be a celebration of the abundant life of these waters.
